Dr. Ted Parran, born and raised in Cleveland Heights, is a 1978 graduate with honors in History from Kenyon College and a 1982 graduate from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. He completed a residency in Internal Medicine at the Baltimore City Hospital of Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Following his residency, Dr. Parran was selected to be the Medical Chief Resident and in 1987 he received the Outstanding Faculty Teacher Award from the Department of Medicine. In 1988 he returned to Cleveland and the faculty of CWRU School of Medicine.
Dr. Parran pursues several areas of special interest in medical education including: Doctor–Patient Communication and the development of Professionalism, Faculty Development and Addiction Medicine.
Dr. Parran is board certified in Internal Medicine and Addiction Medicine. His group practice (GMA Consultants) provides medical directorship services to several Substance Abuse treatment programs in northeast Ohio, and he has been the co-medical director of St. Vincent Charity Rosary Hall since 1988. He is widely published and has been an invited speaker at national and international conferences for the past three decades.
He established the Addiction Fellowship Program at CWRU School of Medicine in 1994and is a core faculty member in the Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship at University Hospitals and the Addiction Medicine Fellowship at MetroHealth Medical Center.
At CWRU School of Medicine Dr. Parran has served as the co-director of the Tuesday Seminars Program since 1994, the Communications Skills Curriculum co-director since 1992, the medical director of the Program in Continuing Medical Education since 1994, and the co-director of the Addiction Medicine Pathway since its inception in 2023. In 2007 he was named as the inaugural Isabel and Carter Wang Professor and Chair inMedical Education, and in 2018 he received the School of Medicine’s outstanding pre-clinical faculty teaching award.
Dr. Mykola Kolganov is an addiction medicine physician and medical co-director of Rosary Hall at Sisters of Charity Health System. Dr. Kolganov is board-certified in Internal Medicine and board-certified in Addiction Medicine.
In 2009, he received his medical degree from the National Medical University in Kyiv, Ukraine. After graduation, Dr. Kolganov completed a psychiatry residency and practiced as a general psychiatrist at Pavlov’s Hospital in Kyiv, Ukraine, treating patients with substance use disorders.
In 2017, Dr. Kolganov joined the St. Vincent Charity Medical Center Internal Medicine Residency Program in Cleveland, Ohio. Upon completion of the residency program in Internal Medicine, Dr. Kolganov pursued his career in the addiction field by finishing a one-year Addiction Medicine Fellowship program at St. Vincent Charity Medical Center.
During his training period, he was greatly involved in multiple quality improvement projects, including automation for naloxone kit distribution in the hospital, expansion of medication-assisted treatment for people with substance use disorders, and introducing the long-acting buprenorphine formulations to the resources of MAT. After completion of the fellowship, Dr. Kolganov accepted the position as co-director of Rosary Hall.
Following his Internal Medicine Residency and Addiction Medicine Fellowship at St. Vincent Charity Medical Center, Dr. Kolganov continued to pursue his clinical interest in the field of addiction treatment by completing a Public and Community Psychiatry Fellowship at Case Western Reserve University to advance the effectiveness of substance use treatment in
Northeast Ohio.
His areas of interest include a comprehensive approach to treating people with substance use disorders, quality improvement in addiction medicine, and education of new medical providers interested in addiction medicine and addiction psychiatry. Dr. Kolganov dedicates significant time to teaching medical students, residents, and fellows on rotations at the inpatient detoxification unit as well as at numerous outpatient facilities, methadone clinics, and residential treatment programs. Dr. Kolganov is a faculty member in the Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship at University Hospitals and the Addiction Medicine Fellowship at MetroHealth Medical Center.
